Application and Uses for Brass Tubes
Brass is a metal alloy made of copper and zinc. It has a light yellow color similar to gold. Like gold, brass is very malleable and can be molded into sheets and tubes. Brass suppliers usually sell it in sheets and tubes; the tubes even come in different shapes and sizes, depending on their usage. Brass is not as strong as bronze, which is made from copper and tin; brass is typically used in objects that do not encounter so much impact like blades. There are musical instruments made of brass. Some wind instruments are made entirely out of brass and are called brass instruments. These are the French horn, trumpet, tuba, and trombone. Brass instruments are shaped from brass sheets of varying thickness. Some kitchenwares are also made of brass. These include tableware and utensils, but not cookware. Brass has a relatively low melting point, so it cannot be heated yet still be used like a copper or steel pan. Brass tableware and utensils include napkin rings, trays, and coasters. There are many variations of brass, and each has its own purpose. Manganese brass, for example, is used for the "golden dollar" coin; nickel brass, for pound coins; and aluminum brass, for euro coins. Rich low brass called tombac has high copper content (has only about fifteen percent zinc) and is used for making jewelry and fancy embossed containers like basins, vases, and decorative tea sets. Cartridge brass has thirty percent zinc content and is used for ammunition cases. These are just some of the brass types that brass tube suppliers have in their inventories. They have brass that can be used for musical instruments, kitchenware, and railings and banisters for stairs. They also have brass for handrails for bathrooms. There are even some that can be used for radiation cores, clock mechanisms, and water pipes. Oftentimes, brass tubes are used for decorative purposes. These are used in hotels, vintage luxury cars, and cruise ships. There are brasses used for bedsteads and daybeds for an elegant look. Some couches are also made with brass frames for an edgy look in contrast to soft padding. Modern and late modern artworks use metal media in sculpture. There are modern sculptors who use an assortment of metals on their sculptures. Others use assorted media—metal with wood or even paper—on their sculptures. Some make figures out of brass tubes.
